"Here begins an adventure as you have never taken before!"
The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam explained by Paramhansa Yogananda
The Promise of Immortality by Swami Kriyananda
"On those who are ever united to me through meditation, and who worship Me with love, I confer that yoga of wisdom by which they attain Me. I, then, who dwell in their hearts, showering My grace upon them, dispel forever their darkness born of ignorance, and uplift them in the shining light of wisdom.

What is yoga?
Yoga in Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language, means "union". Yoga is a system of scientific methods for reuniting the soul with the Spirit. We have come down from God, and we must reascend to Him. We have (in this earth-dream state of delusion) become consciously separated from our Father, and we must consciously reunite with Him. Yoga teaches us how to rise above the delusion of separation and realize our oneness with God.
"Yoga is not so much a philosophy as a science offering definite, practical techniques for raising man's consciousness inwardly through the spine and uniting its myriad of directional tendencies of sanskaras with its own highest potential in the Self." Essence of the Bhagavad Gita as Explained by Paramhansa Yogananda.

Yoga embraces all religions
"The truth simply is. It cannot be voted into existence. It must be perceived by every individual in the changeless self within." Essence of Self-Realization, The Wisdom of Paramhansa Yogananda, by Swami Kriyananda
Yoga is not a religion.
It is all-embracing of all true religions.
True religions teach the universal oneness of all creation.
True religions teach unconditional love for all mankind, regardless of race or social status. Yoga is void of dogma;
void of organizations whose purpose is dedicated to the perpetuation of the organization. There are many paths leading to the mountain top.
Yoga is meant to enhance and clarify your religious path up the mountain of enlightenment, not to replace it.

Five Major Paths of Yoga and Their Relationship to Christianity
"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God:
with all thy heart, (Bhakti Yoga)
and with all thy soul, (Raja Yoga)
and with all thy mind, (Gyana Yoga)
and with all thy strength. (Hatha Yoga)
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (Karma Yoga)
there are no other commandments greater than these."
(Mark 12:28-31)
The typical western view of yoga is only as physical exercise routines (Hatha Yoga), when in fact, the ancients developed Hatha Yoga for the sole purpose to prepare the body for sitting still in meditation for many hours at a time.
The following descriptions are excerpts from www.self-realization.com
Bhakti Yoga is the Yoga of selfless love, compassion, humility, purity and the desire and serious intention to merge with God...
Raja Yoga means royal. Raja adds concentration after body and mind are cleaned and trained to stay calm and attentive...
Jnana Yoga (Gyana Yoga) is practical Philosophy/Metaphysics. It is both theory and practice. It uses the intellect as a tool to understand that our true Self is behind and beyond our mind. It is a Quest for the Self by direct inquiry into "who we are." It is, however, a mistake to think that the Source could be found with the intellect alone...
Hatha Yoga. It is thought that by perfecting the body, creating a healthy physical condition, and raising Kundalini (dormant energy) upwards along the spine, the body becomes better prepared for yogic awakening...
Karma Yoga is the total sum of all our actions (mental and physical), in this life and before. Karma Yoga is the yoga of Service or self-transcending action, whereby the yogi directs all actions towards God...(without selfishness, egoism, and attachment) ...
