This is one of the most overlooked and difficult lessons for many people who read books and/or attend seminars on The Law of Attraction, especially newcomers to the Law. They quickly get excited about the prospect of manifesting the material success they desire. Unfortunately, many of those who teach courses on Success base their beliefs on "mind over matter" or some other "psychological/neurological" method. Although these methods can provide some benefits and progress toward success, the path is usually a long one and not many participants see it through. The Law of Attraction transcends the material, ego consciousness world. It is a spiritually based truth and yoga teaches proven techniques on how to use it to one's greatest benefit.
We need to start from the beginning. In the Christian Bible Genesis 1, it is written: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth..." But have you ever been curious enough to asked yourself, "What about before that?" The ancient yoga teachings expand on Genesis and describe three worlds. Before anything, there was only the Infinite Cosmic God Consciousness. Yoga calls it, the "Causal World" (the first of the three worlds). This “Causal” state of motionless Consciousness is beyond human comprehension, a state beyond all qualities and thought, changeless-timeless-infinity. This motionless Consciousness is behind all creation, all vibration, every particle, and every atom. At the center of all motion is Absolute Rest. How can the human "finite" mind describe the “infinite”? Infinity is a concept for which there is no human experience or comparison.
When God manifested the universe, He didn’t create anything. He merely thought it into existence as a manifestation of energy, which is only a manifestation of thought, which in turn is only a manifestation of Divine Consciousness. This is a difficult concept for people to follow. Yet, in all the universe, only one reality exists: God.
The waves of the ocean are all part of that body of water. They can never separate themselves from it, for it is the ocean alone which gave them their reality. In a similar fashion, the Infinite Cosmic God Consciousness, the Higher Self, gave parts of His own Consciousness self-awareness and free-will. Each part is referred to as an immortal soul, or the "little self". Each of us is that "little self“, that immortal soul. Yet each of us is still one with, and an inseparable part of, the “One Higher Self". This is how yoga explains the Bible passage Genesis 1:27: "...So God created man in His own image".
What good would free-will be to the immortal soul in the formless, motionless, changeless causal world of God Consciousness? How can free-will be exercised in a formless, changeless void of pure bliss? Genesis goes on to say: "And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light..." Yoga refers to this as Om, God's vibration that created the "Astral Worlds" of pure thought (the second of the three worlds). Thought vibration was then solidified into the "Material Worlds" of objective physical form (the third of the three worlds).
The Infinite Consciousness created the Astral and Material worlds so that immortal souls (you and I) could descend from the Causal World to experience “change” and “objective form”, and then re-ascend into His eternal bliss.
You were not born to struggle. Rather, you are meant to have an amazing life of happiness, health and abundant wealth... The Law of Attraction was created to allow you to achieve these experiences. But you were given free choice, even if that free choice results in suffering. When we become attached to material objects and circumstances, we fall under a spell of delusion and we forget that we descended from the Infinite and we forget why we are here - to find God and re-ascend into His eternal bliss. Yogananda called this delusion "ego consciousness - the soul thinking that it is merely the body".
So, it is "ego consciousness" that causes us to wish things were different and want things to be in accordance to our concept of how they should be. We need to awaken from the dream of "ego consciousness" and remember that we are immortal souls, one with, and inseparable from the Infinite Consciousness. To do this, a first step is to practice non-attachment. Accept things for what they are. Fighting the way things are only creates negative energy. Put yourself in vibrational harmony with the Universe by accepting what is and offering it up to God. Without this vibrational harmony, although we think you are trying to attract what we want, we will be using our energy as resistance in opposition to the Universe's natural flow of harmony and abundance. By connecting to the Universe's vibrational harmony we will create a magnetic field around us and attract to us the things and circumstances we desire. This is a proven yoga technique.
